There is no one size fits all virus protection. Each organization should have comprehensive virus protection throughout their facilities. As technology progresses we now have an opportunity to protect networks at several different key points to stop the spead of virus and malicious code. There should never be a computer on or off a corporate network without current virus protection. Simply purchasing and installing the product is not enough, the virus definitions MUST be kept up to date and the subscription kept current.

We typically standardize on Symantec/Norton series of antivirus products. Symantec is has done a very good job with their latest Liveupdate software allowing clients to automatically pull down updated definitions with requiring a scheduled event to happen. The end result is your definitions are updated in the background without your knowledge or intervention.

There are several other software publishers that deserve mention as well, and we use/support them on occasion.
